nkn is used a lot in Europe and I wish that it would catch on here.
Have you ever had to guess as to the notation of a copied schematic?
Was that a decimal point or was it a spot from the copier? The k in the
example takes the place of the decimal point and indicates the
multiplier of 10e3 (K). This letter can be an R as in 1R0 to indicate
1.0, a K as in the example, an M to indicate a multiplier of 10e6. I am
sure that there are others, but these are what I have seen used.
Actually 1K6 takes up less room than 1.6K and takes all the fun out of
guessing, was that 1.6K or 16K for the value.
