Asking for permission is likely to get you a blank stare. I operated from an
Alaskan Cruise ship last month and activated 15 grids and made more than 130
contacts during a week long cruise. (If you sent me a card, don't worry, I
will QSL but I am catching up.) My plan was to ask for forgiveness should I
be questioned about what I was doing. No one affiliated with the ship seemed
to pay any attention, but I got a lot of questions about the Arrow antenna
from other passengers. Andy MacAllister was doing the same thing at the same
time in the Caribbean. Make sure to take a GPS that will show your
maidenhead gridsquare (like the Garmin eTtrex or eMap) since it will really
help with making contacts.
