Most of the radio techs I know are now crimping almost all their connectors.
I just went out and bought a crimp tool and dies myself, and a bunch of
connectors. For installing connectors on low loss cable (foam or air
dielectric) crimping is the only way to go if you have to do more than a few
at a time. For onesy twosy jobs the clamp on are fine. Solder on
connectors are a bad idea on low loss cable. Even on good old RG-58 or
RG-213 the crimp on jobs make a nice fast installation. Just my .02.

I couldnt agree more! I starting using crimp connectors 25 years ago
and would only consider a solder-on BNC, N or UHF a temporary fix!
A properly done crimp connector, done with the proper crimp tool wether
it be AMP, Kings or one of the other "professional" connectors will
exceed the electrical and mechanical capabilities of a well-made
solder-on type. period.
Besides the fact that they are quick to make; they
hold up to vibration (as in aircraft) and weather (as around the
ham shack's antennae) far better! The only hold back is that the
proper tool, which IMHO IS REQUIRED, is very costly. The last Kings
tool I bought for UHF's on RG-214 was over $400....but then again
the 50 connectors were about $4 ea as I remember...... actually
less expensive than comparable solder-ons!
......with a large eme array and several terrestial antennas to
re-make jumpers for I would have never considered using solder!
Cheers!

P>S> with my AMP Special Industries "Single-Crimp" BNC's I can
cut and terminate an RG-58 cable before the soldering iron gets
to temp :+}
