SUNSAT APRS Pass

I finally remembered to catch a SUNSAT APRS pass while I was driving home
from work and copied N4ZO, WB8WOR, WB4APR, N5ZNL and N9IDH at about 2355
UTC Tonight on my Kenwood D700 Mobile.
All packets were 9600 on the donwlink. Was anyone uplinking at 1200?

I tried 1200 during the first part of the pass, but since the D700 cannot
do cross-RATES (1200 up and 9600 down), I couldnt see if the 1200 was
getting through and coming out on 9600 or not.

I did see one station say he was using 1200, but that could have been an
old STATUS packet and he changed like I did to 9600.

The UHF 9600 baud downlink was OK on my 3/4 wave 435 MHZ vertical
(20" mobile whip), but never got above 2 S units. I think it was a 40 deg
western pass for me (in Maryland).

I only saw my own packet ONCE. Did anyone see any more hits?

If you are uplinking on SUNSAT APRS (145.825) please include some info
in your STATUS on your uplink situation, such as POWER, ANTENNA and RATE
so we can evaluate uplink success raates.

Examples:

5w HT into duck
50w 1/4 whip 30sec
50w 3/4 omni
5w HT to ARROW
5w to Arrow 1min
5w to 1/4 whip 2min

Remember, you do NOT have to waste bytes saying you are using a D700 or
D7, since that info is already encoded in every packet anyway.

Thanks,
de WB4APR, Bob
