I have never operated any satellite without being full-duplex. Even the AO-27
demo at the ARRL convention in San Diego end of 1998 when I first joined AMSAT was
full duplex with a handheld and an arrow. I would never consider operating our
current technology satellites without being full duplex. Whether it's one of the
FM birds or the analog transponder satellites, I consider being able to hear
yourself (or someone else on top of you) makes satellite operation so much easier.
