I have worked AO-27 last year on the final pass from the Alamogordo hamfest,
with the low power setting of my FT51R at 20mw setting,  and the  sat just
scimming over the tops of the western mtn chain at about 10 to 15 degrees
over the horizon. No problem making QSO's on that pass. By the way, I will
be on the road to New York, either today or Sunday, be working 27 & 14 along
the way. Watch for me on APRS, on the web at http://map.findu.com/n2yqp ,
catch you there.
I will be monitoring 146.52 along the way. If in earshot say Hello.
