FP on HF, 6M & Satellite

Howdy all,

Well, everything is packed and ready to go. I ended up with close to 500 lbs
worth of stuff!! I leave for Nova Scotia Saturday morning (7/8). I decided to
leave a day earlier than planned so I can take my time driving and stop and
eat some seafood along the way! :-}

One big change we experienced was with the callsign. We had expected to use
TO0DX. It was used by KT1J last year when he was on FP and he sent in his
renewal to use the callsign again this year. In phone conversations he was
assured it was no problem. Well, we just received a letter with a refund
(from a different French agency than what we had sent the renewal to !?!)
stating that the callsign is unavailabe! So, we will be using FP/N1JEZ,
FP/KT1J and FP/AI5P.

We still plan to be on Ile aux Marins on the 14th. The only snag we've heard
of is a potential Ferry strike/baracade in Nova Scotia...... We'll see what
happens.

I will be traveling with 6, 2 & 432 in the car and plan to activate grids on
satellites and also participate in the CQ VHF test this weekend as I travel.
I expect to be in Ingonish, Nova Scotia Monday night and will begin the
second leg of travel to Ile aux Marins on Tuesday.

I will have spotty e-mail access as I travel. When we begin operating on Ile
aux Marins, I'll upload some digital pictures of the setup on the island to
UO-22. We'll probably use these for SSTV on HF as well.

Hope to work you all from FP!

Mike, N1JEZ
