^^^^^^ A great deal clipped. ^^^^^^^

The ARRL does not encourage this. We do (you, me and the rest of the AMSAT
community). The way the ARRL scores satellite contacts there is no real
reason to make more than one satellite contact, but the AMSAT Field Day
competition is another matter. I am as "guilty" as the next guy in
competing the AMSAT competition (it's fun!). In fact, I submitted a log
this year as well.

The real question is do we want to have contests on the satellites? These
conditions will persist as long as we operate under contest conditions.
People running stacked 5 element monobanders have an advantage on HF, other
operators have come to accept this.

In the past we strongly discouraged contesting on satellites. The more I
think about this maybe it was the right thing to do.

My Opinion - 73,
Joe
