I disagree.

Worked AO-10 for 2 hours on Field Day 1999, 1A.

12 Volt deep charge Auto/Boat Battery.
FT-847, couple bricks, and an Arrow 3/7 yagi on a camera tripod.

Finally lost workable signals at 18000 miles out. Deep fades.

That battery was just about dead afterwards....:-)
It was one fun experiment.
