Re: Stop Your Whining Already! Re: Satellite FIeld Day!

A simpler proposal for LEO FM satellites 5 watts 3 elements
no discussion. Major satellite stations are usually fixed which
is not the point on Field Day. The point is; Vince and John,
to use inprovised communications in a "Field" location to
demonstrate emergency readiness. Perhaps that's why
class "D" stations cannot contact each other

I have access to 1500+ watts and if I ask real nice perhaps a
50 meter dish, shall I use that and dominate the FM birds.

I heard several stations who should definitely know better
dominating both J-FM birds with a large excess of power.

Part of the point of Field Day is to acquaint new hams and not
yet hams with operating and the fraternity of amateur radio.
One high power station dominating these birds is the moral
equivalent of jamming during contests nice example guys.

Last but not least when you use several hundred watts into
a 20 element beam to a satellite that can be worked with less
than half a watt is that using just the power needed to make the
contact? Everybody else is doing it is not the correct answer,
everybody else ought to know and do better.

I feel better now.
