OS wars aside, here's an example of what bugs me:
To facilitate the high data rate downlink (with the
resulting power budget issues), UO-36 uses an updated
broadcast protocol. This update is *only* available
by using an updated version of WiSP. It is not available
to users of any other system or software package.
I have a fair idea of how one might do this; there are
a number of reserved fields in the various PB requests.
But in the absence of documentation I'm not going to
lift a finger to reverse-engineer the protocol to find
out. Nor will I spend a dime to support such efforts.
Keep the source private if you must, but kindly document
the protocol.
