Re: Mode S test

Mark,

In the UK I used

Sandpiper Communications
Units 5/7
Enterprise House
Canal Road
Cwmbach
Aberdare
Nid Glamorgan
Wales
CF44 0AE

Tel +44 1685 870425
Fax +44 1685 576104

Don't ask me how to pronounce the address... it's Welsh. I checked again and
there's no typos.

They're not on the web as far as I can see.

They have RHCP 13 & 23cm antennas.

23cm 12 turn RHCP Gain 15dB Length 2'0" GBP40.00, Packing GBP7.50
13cm 12 turn RHCP Gain 15dB Length ??? GBP40.00, Packing GBP7.50
23cm 20 turn RHCP Gain 17dB Length 3'6" GBP50.00, Packing GBP7.50
13cm 20 turn RHCP Gain 17dB Length ??? GBP50.00, Packing GBP7.50

Not sure what type of dB they're using here... Their catalog says dBd, but I
think we'll take that with a pinch of salt.

I was seriously looking at the Directive Systems 13 & 23cm units wihch are
housed in radomes. They're not cheap at $175 each. What put me off was that
the 13cm unit is the same diameter as the 23cm unit for the same gain. I
would say they're both 2' long and both 5" in diameter.

My only problem is now is that yesterday I realised UO11 is LHCP.
