Re: coax seal

Hi Bob,

There are a number of ways to do it. I find the product sold as "Coax Seal"
to be extremely messy and dificult to remove when you need to disconnect.
It's actually a gutter sealing product and if you really want to use it,
that's the cheapest way to buy it. A much better product is 3M's Scotch #23
rubber sealing tape. Follow that with either Scotch 33+ or Super 88 (also
3M). Another option is to use Scotch 33 or 88 and follow with a coat of
Scotch Coat liquid sealing tape and then another layer of tape. Don't
bother with the cheap "discount hardware store" vinyl tape. Get the real
stuff from 3M (no, I'm not a shareholder) and you won't regret it.

If you really want to learn about the "right way" to do this stuff, check
into the Tower Talk reflector or contact Tower Tech for information on
waterproofing connectors. Steve, K7LXC, can be reached at: Champion Radio
Products
http://www.championradio.com. He's a helpful guy. Check out
http://www.contesting.com/towertalkfaq.html
to find out more about Tower Talk. It's a great resource.
