I doubt that the Meade drive could be fast enough (while still
maintaining accuracy) to follow a sat across the sky (but I could be
wrong on that)

But if a sat is "visible" you can see it with the naked eye.  Just
because it is overhead does not make it visible to the eye (not to
your radio) ... it would have to be in sunlight against a black
background of stars (shortly after sunset, or before sunrise)
