RE: What satellites are current?

Steve,

You've hit on one of the most frequently asked questions by Amateur
Radio Satellite operators. This information is dynamic in nature
subject to seasonal changes, schedules, and necessary spacecraft
control operations. The best place I've found that summarizes this
information is the "Weekly Satellite Report" at the end of the
weekly ANS Bulletins. See http://www.amsat.org

The NORAD numbers for satellites are in the Keplerian elements or
orbital elements also available at the AMSAT web site. However,
since nothing has been heard recently from ASUSAT1 and STENSAT, I
suspect they are listed in the UNK1-4 since they were not officially
commissioned or identified. See "Spacecraft Information" under
"Future Satellites" and follow the links to their respective web pages.

There are also a number of articles, FAQ's, books, software, etc.
so be sure to bookmark the page. You might check for a local carrier
of the Houston AMSAT Net. See the links page. AMSAT-bb is also a good
source of info, but you have to sift through all the useless comments
to find the postings with the gems of information you're looking for.

Subject: [amsat-bb] What satellites are current?

Hello all,

Joined the list a couple of days ago and enjoyed the information so far.
Became introduced to satellites by Jeff Johns on the qrp-l list with info on
working AO-27. I have listened to it a few times and want to learn more.

Can anyone point me to a listing of the satellites that are currently
working? I have the file on "easy sats" and the faq as well as the Amateur
Satellite Resource Guide.

How can I find out the Norad number of ASUSAT and STENSAT that just went up?

Is there any kind of satellite group within 100 miles or would I have to go
to Dallas?

Enquiring minds.......
