STS-99 Keps and CVITK
The STS-99 keps Paul mentioned at
>http://www.amsat.org/amsat/sarex/orbit.html
don't seem to work with CVITK without a little editing. I tried converting
them with CVITK and loading them into InstantTrack. I got an epoch time of
1.00000, which led to a satellite that was orbiting the earth a couple of
thousand km underground. :-) Loading the two-line elements into STSPLUS
seemed to work.
Here's the first line of the keps in question:
1 26088U 00010A 44.12741348 .00074667 23011-7 53783-4 0 55
Notice all the blank space just before the epoch time "44.12741348". When
I replaced three leading blanks with three leading zeros, then I got the
proper epoch time out of CVITK. I ran a test using both IT and STSPlus on
the next few passes, and the two programs agreed within a few seconds.
Here are the keps "corrected" for CVITK:
STS-99
1 26088U 00010A 00044.12741348 .00074667 23011-7 53783-4 0 55
2 26088 57.0094 300.5820 0011888 288.7189 240.9083 16.15092467 230
Hope this is useful!
