[amsat-bb] DISH and Direct TV unit questions

1) What CODEC (correct term?) do DISH network and DirecTV use? MPEG2 or
3?

2) What is the IF range from the LNB to the reciever? 950 to 1450 Mhz
like their older brother C-band units or something different?

Any info would help out for some ideas a friend has .
