AO-10: LEO-type passes

Several people pointed out that AO-10 does not function in eclipse. So i
wrote some PERL code to post-process the output of SatTrack, and here are
some predictions for both coasts, with a minimum elevation of 3 degress
and a maximum loss of 157.5 dB (which comparable to FO-20). Attached are
predictions
Also heard were N7HXP Tom, OK1VPO Milos, and G1WPR (had a 20 minute long QSO
with Terry before my little antennas were not up to the task any more).
That's all the fun I can stand....back to bed now :-))

Yeah, i didn't catch Terry's call, but hearing G1WPR all the way out here
in California with only a four element-pair LPVA was definitely a treat
for someone who's used to working AO-27.
There's not much time during a given week to work AO-10 with modest
equipment, so akin to what the EME folks do, i hope some of the 'big
guns' will try to be out there and work some of us penny-whistle
stations.
People get excited about P3D because of its hoped-for ability to be in
one place in the sky for long periods. I would expect it also to have
LEO-like passes such as these as well. If we can figure out protocols
that would allow people to make contact with modest equipment, then they
may be more willing to make the more substantional investment to be able
to work these birds at apogee.

P.S. Too many 'hellos' on this morning's AO-27 DX pass. Also not many
people could work Belize while i could hear it, in part due to 'hellos'
and 'long' exchanges.
