Doing this satellite stuff with the THD7, I decided to calibrate my
Signal Strength indicator. Here is the result, your mileage may vary:
at 146 MHz at 444 MHz | at 437 MHz
SIGNAL dBm uv dBm uv | dBm uv
--------- ---- ---- ---- ---- | ---- ----
* -121 0.2 -120 0.22 | -116 0.35
*** -117 0.32 -115 0.4 | -112 0.56
****5 -113 0.5 -111 0.63 | -107 1.0
****5*7 -110 0.7 -108 0.89 | -104 1.41
****5*7*9 -105 1.3 -104 1.41 | -100 2.24
Notice that it is a very good receiver for 2m and 440. I can copy packets
all the way down to -119 dbM which is quite good. Being optimized for
the USA 440 band, it does loose about 3 dB in the satellite band.
The narrower band European models have a different UHF filter, and do
have the full sensitivity over their narrower 430-439 MHz band.
