I completely agree with your opinion
SSTV picture from MIR are a great mean to gather more
satellit enthusiasts .
May be is it  not what you want ??
"just keep the fine and 'technical' hobby in our circle..?

For the frequency let them do for the best ..
we (SSTV fans) have been patiently waiting for 5 months
