the local ABC affiliate in houston this evening reported that nasa is giving $1 
million to the russians to get the iss back on course. however, they reported 
that the russians must bring the mir down by september so that there is no 
conflict with the iss as a part of accepting the money.

hmmmm...is the near close for the mir now?
