PC Clocks drift.  It's the nature of the beast.  The hardware clock
loses time when the computer is off because it's running from a
battery; I know this *shouldn't* make a difference in theory, but it
does.  One of the first symptoms of impending CMOS battery failure is
your hardware clock suddenly starting to lose LOTS of time when the PC
is off.  Your operating system (software) clock loses time simply
because the OS software has lots of other stuff to do at the same time,
most of which is more important than telling you what time it is.
