Antenna direction and MIR

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Well, the old IBM PS/2 Model 95 captured four pictures from MIR today
while I was at work. I seem to recall someone talking about receiving
on the side of a beam a few months back so I thought I would pass this
along. I got one very nice (one small noise hit), two fair but noisy,
and one partial noisy picture. The nicest pics were from the 1745 UTC,
22 Feb., pass. The antenna was a 17-element Cushcraft pointed (quite
accidentally) at almost a right angle to MIR's path across my sky for
that pass. I hadn't expected to capture anything, but suprisingly
enough, I got better pictures today than when I'm actually here trying
to track the dern thing. And with a blizzard raging outside, no less.
Interesting.

Software setup is W95SSTV running in NT Workstation 4.0 SP4, set to
Robot 36, Start on VIS Only and AutoSave enabled, Sensitivity=High,
Auto-RX enabled. Rig is an old Icom IC-251A set to 145.985 (give or
take a few hundred cycles, it's an old rig!).
