Re: When will NASA use rocketcam on Shuttle

When John Glenn went into orbit, they did have something like that mounted
to one of the SRB's in the nose cone. It included sound. Unfortunately,
unlike the Delta 2 (beautiful launch!) it is replayed later or the next day
after a shuttle launch, not live. The weird thing about it is when they are
coming down after SEP, all of a sudden you see this blue-grey mass
undulating in the screen. Then you see it come towards the camera.
RAPIDLY! Of course, it is the water.
I think they also have on either the External Tank or the orbiter to see the
ET get away from the shuttle.
But neither of those images are as dramatic as the Delta 2 outside camera
for the ride up. It would be nice to see it from the shuttle, though.
PS -- I thought I had recorded it (I have NASA TV) but since I am a day
sleeper I had hit the "off" button instead!!
