Here's a construction idea for one of those 10-meter loops; check
around with your local CB crowd and see if you can find anyone with a
busted-up "Moonraker 4" antenna in his back yard.  I have just such a
collection of aluminum a guy gave me, and the reflector element was a
cubical-quad style with a metal boom bracket, and fiberglass spreaders
that telescope into aluminum tubing that joins the bracket.  It looks
to be fairly rugged, and should work well flipped over on it's side as
the framework for a 10-meter loop with a single support point.  After
the snow clears and the weather warms here, I may dig my Moonraker
parts out of the aluminum pile and try it out.
