AMSAT's 30th Birthday Party

Please come to the AMSAT 30th Birthday Party to be held on March 13th 1999
at the Goddard Employees' Recreation Center, Greenbelt MD. The cost is $12
which includes a steak dinner. This is a party not a meeting with long
speeches. Come schmooze with your friends and see pictures of all the old
OSCAR satellites. The AMSAT Office will have more information. No AMSAT
funds will be spent on the party.

On March 3, 1969 the Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation officially
incorporated as a non-profit scientific corporation of the District of
Columbia. The first Board of Directors meeting took place at the Applied
Physics Lab in Silver Spring MD. The interim board was composed of: Jim
Puglise (now K9CQ), George Kinal (K2MBU), Cap Petry (W3AWN SK), Jan King
(K8VTR), and Perry Klein (K3JTE). In June 1969 Puglise resigned from the
board, expecting to leave the area, and Chuck Dorian (W3JPT) and Bill Tynan
(W3KMV) joined the interim Board.
