Last night was the first time I've monitored Leonid scatter.
Here is a list of some of the stations monitored here in
south-east Iowa (EN40in) on 144.200 ~ 144.205 MHz from
11:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. CST.
W7XU EN13lm 533km
W1AIM FN34uj 1574km!
W2QK FN30 1555km
N3FA FN21bg 1309km
N4PZ EN52gb 210km
N8HTV EN82ml 730km
Other stations were heard in South Dakota, Texas, South Carolina,
New York, Virginia and Oklahoma.
Signal were very sporadic, as expected, but at times 5/9! Could
have worked some good DX with a kilowatt, but had a lot of fun
just listening from this 'peanut whistle' satellite station.
This was a fun diversion, and good use of the excellent receiver
systems most of us have for satellite work.
Good Luck and have fun tonight!
