RE: geostationary packet satellite

I am a Mechanical engineer, and often get the things wrong, but don't you
take the square root of the ratio of the different distances to measure
power requirements?  I think it is SQRT(23000/600) or 6.19 times as much
power (7.9dB).  Still a lot more, but not _real lot_ more.
