Computers/Satprogs after 1999: For hopeless cases...

Hello friends,

I have an old but small and light-weighty notebook (olivetti QUADERNO).
With a handy, a batterie, a baycom-modem and a small solar panel an
ideal equipment for trekking. It has only a mixture of DOS 5/6,
20 MByte disc - but satellite tracking, predictions (IT, predict and
others), packet, INTERNET access via phone etc. work fine.
But: PROBLEMS after 31/Dec/1999!

So I had the idea to write a DOS-program NASA2000.EXE, which converts
2Liner keps after 31/12/1999 to the year 1996 for leap-years (you
remember, 2000 is a leap-year, 1900 not) and to 1997 for non-leap-
years, because some programs are leap-year-sensitive. Of course the
checksum is corrected.

NASA2000.EXE transforms a file like this from January 2000:

AO-10
1 14129U 83058B 10.86176318 -.00000390 00000-0 10000-3 0 5524
2 14129 26.8096 84.2560 6001490 223.0209 70.1488 2.05884099112684
UO-11
1 14781U 84021B 9.93018919 .00000442 00000-0 81955-4 0 00729
2 14781 097.8799 135.7484 0011182 299.2320 060.7751 14.69773881764090

to:

AO-10
1 14129U 83058B 96010.86176318 -.00000390 00000-0 10000-3 0 5529
2 14129 26.8096 84.2560 6001490 223.0209 70.1488 2.05884099112684
UO-11
1 14781U 84021B 96009.93018919 .00000442 00000-0 81955-4 0 00724
2 14781 097.8799 135.7484 0011182 299.2320 060.7751 14.69773881764090

Now you have to set the computer clock with the DOS-DATE-command,
changing only the year to 1996 (or 1998 in 2001...2003) etc.
Month, day and time of day remain.

Of course the year in the predictions and the revolution numbers are
not correct, but normally it doesn't matter. Anyway, you can use old
computers and satellite programs which apply 2-line keps also in the
next millennium!

If somebody is interested in this program - let me know!

P.S.: Maybe I'm a little bit too early 8-)
