A simpler way is to go to:

http://www2.gsoc.dlr.de/scripts/satvis/satvis.asp

Enter you city, and let the program give you date and times of
a Iridium Flares for a week...Be sure and Bookmark the page, as it will
save your information.

I have seen two, so far, and they were right on schedule.
With a computer in a backwoods culture or tribe, it would make 
me a great witchdoctor.
