Mir still adrift in orbit with failed computer

The Mir space station's central computer was still not working Monday
despite earlier estimates it should have been up and running
overnight, Russian Mission Control officials said. "We are waiting
for a link-up with the station to receive telemetry data from all
Mir's systems and load up the computer afterwards," a Mission Control
spokesman said. "The station's circuits in orbit are not very
favorable for communications now." He said he did not know why
earlier attempts to reboot the computer had failed. The computer,
which controls the station's alignment, crashed Saturday, leaving Mir
adrift in orbit but in no immediate danger.
