I believe I spotted another problem. Local time (EDT) is UTC -4 hours.
When we go off of daylight savings time, we will be UTC -5.
I gave up trying to convert between local time and utc a long time ago. I
set my computer to utc and I have a large digital clock set to utc. I even
think in utc :-)
