Yes, I used that radio in the Navy. They are very good if
you use a single specific frequency, but would be very poor
for amateur use, as they would be totally awkward for tuning
a band.
They are also bad for ham use as they contain very uncommon
active components which would be impossible to replace.
If you can get a free one, go for it just on curiousity value,
but don't pay any money bigger than a $5.00 bill.
