Annual Space Symposium

There was no Symposium held in 2005 because of the damage to the Gulf Coast by Hurricane Katrina. The 2006 Symposium will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Foster City, California on the 5th through 10th of October 2006. Please see the Symposium section of AMSAT.ORG for additional information.

Annual banquet highlights the 2004 Symposium
2004 marked the 35th year of AMSAT North America and the occasion served as the benchmark for our 22nd Space Symposium. Held October 8 -13, 2004 in Arlington, Virginia, we combined the activities of the Symposium with the Amateur Radio on the International Space Station International Delegates Meeting. The meeting was highlighted with an address by Astronaut Carl Walz, KC5TIE, who performed the spacewalk to install the first of four Amateur Radio antennas on the exterior of the ISS.

Symposium sessions featured updates on the successful launch of AO-51 and on the progress being made on the design & construction of the new P3E AMSAT-DL satellite and North America’s Eagle I & II satellites. Over 33 sessions covered all aspects of our program of work. The Conference included our Annual Membership.

Symposium topics presented included: A Simulator for the Eagle spacecrafts, an update on the new C-C Rider digital transponder concept, Software Defined Radios, Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) Delegates Panel, AMSAT Area Coordinators Meeting and many more. In all, some 225 attended this annual event from around the world.

Registration for this year's Space Symposium is now in progress. See you there!
